As Girard Sr. passes his knowledge to the next generation, Girard Jr., his son followed him into the AEC industry after earning a master’s degree in construction management while working as a project engineer for some of the most well-rounded GCs before coming to partner with his father in growing BGI. Girard Jr. has always had a passion for construction since a young kid watching his father start and grow BGI in the beginning years traveling from jobsite to jobsite attending walkthroughs while soaking up the knowledge and gaining tremendous interest. His goal was to one day be working side by side with his father to grow BGI legacy.

Girard Jr. will build on BGI PMCM expertise for new business development. As President of operations for BGI, Jenkins Jr. will lead BGI’s ongoing and new projects in Illinois, while expanding into new markets and regions.

“While growing BGI business in both regions, it will be my greatest challenge. We have a noteworthy foundation to build upon in the Midwest and are finding that our PMCM expertise, which extends to so many different sectors, is a valuable asset for new business development in new markets to expand our portfolio.”

To build on that expertise, both duo will increase the firm’s regional presence in a variety of different markets as well as pursue public- and private-sector projects in the Midwest and West. “We will be going after projects that affect communities in many ways—transportation, facilities, hospitality, schools, and more.

Even as the company’s portfolio grows, both Sr. and Jr. said, “Each client and every project requires attention to detail. we consider ourselves and company who not only delivers in that respect but makes it a team-wide goal.”
